While we can't get enough of pairs like Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, we don't get anything from stars like Elizabeth Olsen and her husband (who have been together for almost a decade, btw).The WandaVision star is just one of many celebrities who have chosen to keep the details of their love lives out of the public eye. If you aren't familiar with these secretive relationships, we've put together a list of the most notable couples who are rarely seen together at public events, along with comments from the celebrities themselves about why they are fiercely protective of their relationships and the families they've built with their significant others:1. Known as one of the most notoriously private famous couples ever, Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendesstarted dating in 2011. They first met when they played a couple in The Place Beyond the Pines, and though they were spotted occasionally going on dates around the time, their one and only red carpet appearance came in 2012 at the Toronto International Film Festival. The couple welcomed their two daughters, Esmeralda and Amada, in 2014 and 2016. They never formally announced their marriage, though Eva referred to Ryan as her husband when she appeared on Channel Nine's Today in 2022, and she has a "de Gosling" wrist tattoo.

2. Country music legend Dolly Parton and businessman Carl Thomas Dean were together for nearly six decades before he passed away in March 2025. They met in Nashville in 1964 and married in 1966, but Dean famously avoided Hollywood events. The one and only red carpet they walked together was in 1966, when Dolly won Song of the Year at the BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) Awards. When the two were on their way home from the event, Dolly said that Carl turned to her in the car and told her, "Dolly, I want you to have everything you want, and I'm happy for you, but don't you ever ask me to go to another one of them dang things again!"3. Although Rachel McAdams and screenwriter Jamie Linden have been dating since 2016 and share two children, the two have only appeared at a public event together once. This was in January 2026, when Jamie supported Rachel at her Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony. During her speech, Rachel said, "To Jamie, my North Star, Kayleen [her sister], my other North Star, thank you for being such a great team and keeping me quasi-normal. I love you all so much. Their last public appearance together was at the 5th annual Seth Rogen’s Hilarity for Charity (HFC) variety show in Los Angeles in October 2016, where they performed a duet together in matching blood-splattered outfits. Despite keeping their family life private, the couple has occasionally stepped out for date nights and celebrated anniversaries via social media.
