The 2026 Golden Globes winners have boosted front-running contenders in an awards season already filled with Hollywood excellence.

Hosted by returning comedian Nikki Glaser, Sunday's Golden Globes ceremony was the latest awards show to clear a path toward the Oscars, as the Globes' film winners often go on to score follow-up nominations (and even wins) at the Academy Awards.

This year, Timothée Chalamet (*Marty Supreme*) saw perhaps the biggest individual boost ahead of the upcoming Oscar nominations, winning Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy over his biggest Oscar competition, Leonardo DiCaprio (*One Battle After Another*).

Other big film winners included the Oscars' current Best Actress frontrunner, Jessie Buckley (*Hamnet*), and other leading-performance champions like Rose Byrne (*If I Had Legs I'd Kick You*) and Wagner Moura (*The Secret Agent*). supporting performances by Teyana Taylor (*One Battle After Another*) and Stellan Skarsgård (*Sentimental Value*) also triumphed at the Globes, cementing those performers in the wider Academy Awards race, too.

*Hamnet* and *One Battle After Another* also eventually won Best Motion Picture — Drama and Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy, respectively.

Though the Globes are often a foreteller of which films and performances will be nominated at the Oscars, both of the Globes' 2025 Best Motion Picture winners in the dramatic (*The Brutalist)* and comedy/musical (*Emilia Pérez*) categories lost the Best Picture Oscar to *Anora* last year— though three acting winners Adrien Brody (*The Brutalist*), Zoe Saldaña (*Emilia Pérez*), and Kieran Culkin (*A Real Pain*) won both the Golden Globe and the Academy Award that year.

On the television side, popular shows like *The Pitt*, and *The Studio *won big at the Golden Globes, with Noah Wyle winning for his dramatic performance in the medical series, while Seth Rogen earned a Globe for his work in the streaming comedy.

Among TV programs, though, Netflix's *Adolescence* won the most individual awards, with four overall category wins (including for performances by Stephen Graham, Erih Doherty, and Owen Cooper).

Elsewhere, the Globes introduced a new competitive category at the 2026 show, with the group unveiling its first-ever set of Best Podcast nominees late last year. Contenders included *Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard*, Alex Cooper's *Call Her Daddy, The Mel Robbins Podcast, SmartLess *(cohosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett), and NPR's *Up First, *with *Good Hang With Amy Poehler* ultimately taking the first award.
