Morning TV staple and *Scream 7* actor Mark Consuelos rang in his 55th birthday with a rare display of teary-eyed emotion on *Live With Kelly and Mark*.

Consuelos got emotional Monday morning, after wife and cohost Kelly Ripa, also 55, helped her husband celebrate his milestone birthday with a special *Live* segment that included a message from a special guest.

"I'm very happy you were born," Ripa told her husband from the *Live* desk. "We have a very special surprise for you. Your favorite child has sent you a message. We thought you'd like to see it!"**

The show then cued up a split-screen image of an animation depicting the couple's dog, Lena, speaking to Consuelos: "Hi daddy! I'm getting ready to celebrate your big day. I'm staying hydrated and getting my steps in," the animated version of Lena said.

"Guess what? In dog years, you're 385 years old, but you don't look a day over 55 to me. Love you, kisses!" Lena finished, with Consuelos opening his mouth in shock over the bit.

"Are you crying?" Ripa asked, with a close-up shot showing tears clearly welling in Consuelos' eyes.

"Is it weird that I got emotional?" Consuelos asked, before putting his head down on the table for a few seconds. "I got emotional! Who am I? What happened to me?"

The cohost called the segment "the nicest thing," as Ripa has long teased her husband on *Live* over his doting affection for Lena. Though Ripa previously joked that Lena was her husband's "favorite child," the couple — who married in 1996 — share three human children, too, including Michael, Lola, and Joaquin Consuelos.

*Live'*s Lena moment also came one year after the couple opened up about extreme grief over the loss of another pet, Chewie, their 17-year-old dog who died in early 2025.

"I'm really sorry. I thought I got it all out, guys. I really thought I got it all out, and I apologize because I did not. This is not how I wanted this to go down. God, she gave us so much," Ripa said on *Live* in February 2025, upon breaking down in tears while discussing Chewie's death. "We're filled with gratitude for this dog. I apologize, I'm so sorry. She gave us so much. As each one of our kids left for college and then moved out on their own, Chewie remained right there like our steadfast companion."
