Camila Larrain has long been fascinated by her mother Karen’s career in fashion journalism. As a child, she would beg to skip school just to tag along with her mom to the office.
“I would make my own ‘editorial pages’ by cutting images out of magazines and gluing them into a composition notebook, trying to mimic her layouts,” Camila tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I also loved helping her choose outfits for her seasonal trips to London, Paris and Milan — it all felt so exciting and glamorous to me.”
“Some of my favorite memories are spending the day exploring the accessories and makeup closets, seeing what little goodies I could bring home,” she adds.

As she grew older, her fascination with fashion extended beyond the office. The New York City local recalls attending major industry events alongside her mom, including the 2010 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, where she saw Katy Perry perform “Firework” for the first time.
At a Ralph Lauren girls’ show, she was gifted a black suede fringe bag — one she still uses today. Experiences like these, Camila says, helped her see the creativity, hard work and excitement behind her mom’s career and also naturally shaped her own path in fashion.
“My mom and I are extremely close — more like best friends," she says. "What I admire most about my mom is that she’s a great listener. She’s always given me the most thoughtful and spot-on advice; I go to her with practically everything and it always seems like she has the right solution.”
Last year, those memories came rushing back when the family moved out of an apartment they had lived in for 18 years. While unpacking, Camila and Karen uncovered a trove of old iPhones and BlackBerrys, physical photos, fashion show invitations, memorabilia, and vintage magazine editions — tangible reminders of a career that had once felt larger than life.
Sorting through it all felt deeply nostalgic — and it sparked an idea. The pair began discussing ways to share those moments, and TikTok quickly stood out as the natural choice.
“It’s where storytelling feels the most creative and accessible,” Camila says. “You can pair visuals with music, edit quickly and turn moments into short stories.” The platform’s looser, less curated feel also made the content feel more authentic.

The timing felt especially fitting, with The Devil Wears Prada 2 set to be released this year. Revisiting her mom’s real-life magazine memories felt full circle, and TikTok made it easy to share that world in a way that felt fun and relatable rather than intimidating.
So Camila posted some old photos of her mom, and to her surprise, the video quickly went viral, amassing more than 450,000 views and hundreds of comments. She says the response caught them off guard.
"petition to put your moms camera roll in the moma," one user commented.
"The only type of peope I’m jealous of. 🥺😭😭 she’s so chic and cool," another wrote.
Someone else chimed in, "This is an IRL Pinterest board wow. Your mom is THAT girlllll."
"We were honestly shocked by how many people connected with the content," Camila says. "What surprised us most was how detail-oriented viewers were — people were identifying the exact year of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, recognizing designers like Michael Kors during his resort presentations and spotting models like Anja Rubik."
"I think the story resonates because the fashion industry can feel very elusive and exclusive," she adds. "Sharing these behind-the-scenes moments made it feel more human and accessible, and we loved discovering that it provided a sense of escape and nostalgia for so many people."

Now, looking forward the future, Camila says she hopes to continue digging through her mom’s archives, explore how her work influenced her personal style, share her tips and advice and create content that blends nostalgia, New York City, fashion, and lifestyle in an authentic way.
"We hope it’s a nice uplifting escape for people to take a break from all the negativity in the world now," Camila says. "And also, inspiration that if you have a dream career that you want to go after, the world is your oyster."
As for Karen, she remains a fashionable woman living in NYC, currently working a career in public relations.
